We Have a God Problem

We want to be God and We’re Not.

This world is broken. People are flawed. We choose sin because it feels good. We deny truth because we don’t like it. Like the Israelites in the Old Testament, we are a rebellious and stiff necked people.

We want things to be our way, go our way, so we can have our way.

We are human and we want to be our own god.

And the result is that:

We have a gun problem because we are human.

We have a mental health problem because we are human.

We have an evil problem because we are human.

We have a sin problem because we are human.

Somewhere along the road to “progress and freedom” we have lost our love for one another. We have lost sight of what it means to choose the greater good over our individual desires.

We say there are “no simple answers” because these are complex problems.

There is a simple answer: We are not God. We are sinners in need of a Savior, Jesus. Acknowledging that is one thing, choosing to submit our will to His, that’s where as humans we get stuck.

We don’t want to submit our free will to God because we think we’ll lose something and we don’t like to lose.

What many fail to understand is that when we submit our lives to The Creator we don’t lose, we gain.

I have never once chosen submission to God and regretted it.

I have chosen rebellion plenty of times and regretted it EVERY time.

We are not God, but we are the image bearers of God.

It is time to start acting like it.

In all times, places and opportunities choose LIFE.

"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits."

Matthew 7:15-20 ESV
