Nothing Fit for a King, But Our Praise

I’ve been trying to take a walk every day both for exercise and to focus my heart on The Lord. I’m having to walk earlier and earlier in the day as the temperature is finally reaching the “warm” zone and I find myself going back again and again to listen to the song “Gratitude” by I AM THEY (featuring Cheyenne Mitchell).

It’s a simple worship song about our inability to bring God anything but raised hands and words of praise. The lyrics “I’ve nothing else fit for a King” remind me of the Little Drummer Boy who said “I’m a poor boy too. I have no gift to bring. That’s fit to give the King.”

Yes, I know the Little Drummer Boy is not a biblical story – but it’s our story isn’t it? I know it’s mine. I have nothing fit for THE KING but my praise.

"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits."

Matthew 7:15-20 ESV
