I’m gonna get right to the point today: Is there something people in your life keep encouraging you to do?
Something the people who know you best keep suggesting you should try? Maybe you’ve been encouraged to start a new business, take a new class, make a career change, try online dating or move to a new place.
Why don’t you?
Is fear holding you back? Lack of resources? Diminishing motivation? Any of these can be solid reasons (or excuses) for not trying something new. But let’s just say you decide to go for it. You decide to step out in faith and give something new a shot. What’s the worst that could happen? You might fail. Depending on what it is, you might fail hard. But what if you don’t? What if you were to succeed and find great joy in that something new?
I’m not suggesting you throw caution to the wind and do anything irresponsible, but I want to plant this seed for you: sometimes the people in your life (the ones who know you best) can see gifts and talents within you that you don’t see in yourself.
They look at you with a less critical eye than you think they do and they see potential in you to do something good; something great. Something that uses the mix of your God given gifts and the skills you’ve acquired over a lifetime. Don’t be afraid to lean into that. Don’t let fear stop you from taking a step, taking a turn, making a choice that might change your life for the better.
You have something unique and beautiful to contribute to the world. Maybe you’re doing it right now. Or maybe you need a little push to get started. Perhaps you have no idea what it is yet… that’s okay too.
In a world of non-stop talk, a lot of which is cheap, be careful who you listen to. Don’t just give anyone a microphone to speak into your life. But, for those people who do get the privilege to speak into who you are, and who you’re becoming… don’t let the noise drown them out. They just might see something in you that you can’t quite yet see for yourself.
Have a wonderful week and kick fear to the curb.

Memorizing scripture has been a conviction of my heart from the Holy Spirit lately. I don’t know about you, but these last few days since the brutal attack on Israel by Hamas on the morning of October 7, 2023, my heart has been heavy. The stories of what is happening in Israel are nothing short […]

It makes me feel uncomfortable inside, but recently, when I find myself without anyone to talk to at a gathering (like after church or at a social event), I walk over and just join another group. It might seem silly, but for me, it’s always a little scary. Joining groups I haven’t been invited to […]

So this guy pulls out a Bible on a plane… It sounds like the start of a joke right? Except, it wasn’t a joke. In late September I headed out on an adventure from the mountains of far Northern California to the mountains of East Tennessee for a Christian women’s retreat for writers, podcasters and […]
