Today marks the beginning of a new season for me. This post is my official “launch” post for the new website and blog (designed by Jen Olmstead of Tonic Site Shop) and it’s the day before I begin a trip back East to begin interviews for the book I’m planning to write. There, I’ve said it… I’m writing a book. I don’t have a publisher, a book deal, an agent or even a book proposal written yet. But I’m jumping in with two feet and trusting that God’s got this.
I was reminded yesterday by the pastor of the church we attend (Siskiyou Christian Fellowship) that in order for God to bless us, sometimes first He moves us. He takes us from a place where we’re stuck to a new place, with a new beginning and He writes the next chapter in our story.
In times when we feel forgotten and we wonder, “where are you God?” we can be encouraged that He is right with us, working in us and through us. And sometimes it takes a change of perspective to open our eyes to see that He is moving in our lives.
And boy oh boy have we been moved as a family. Geographically, spiritually, financially. In just about all the ways a family can be moved… we’ve moved. Four months ago to the day we listed our home in Arizona for sale and we made a drastic change to our life. Instead of staying in the same place and fighting the same struggles we decided to change course and step out in faith on the path we believe God is asking us to take. And it hasn’t all been easy. Some days I’ve felt like I was on top of the mountain, and other days felt like I was in the lowest part of the valley. The past four months have been a mix of exhilaration, exhaustion and anticipation of what God will do next. But through it all I am reminded that he is good. I am reminded that He loves me, all of me, despite my brokenness and all of my questions.
Romans 8:28: And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good
I’m excited to share more about our story and our journey and most importantly I hope to provide encouragement that whatever your struggle is, wherever your “desert” is, God has written your story and when you call on Him, He can and will redeem every aspect of your life. I believe that with all my heart, and our life today is living proof of it.
It can be overwhelming to start reading the Bible if you’ve never done it before. It’s a big book! But don’t let the size of it intimidate you. While a lot of people recommend starting with the gospels in the New Testament, particularly the Gospel of John, I prefer to start at the very beginning […]

Apologists and apologetics are often heard as big words that inspire images of older men in tweed jackets, sitting by fireplaces, smoking pipes. Are you picturing C.S. Lewis yet? But the truth is that everyone is an apologist and has an apologetic for something. That includes you, whether you realize it or not. An apologist […]
