Biblically equipping CHRISTIAN WOMEN to KNOW, GROW, AND DEFEND THEIR FAITH

Trusting God for Everything

I have a friend who wants to have a baby. She’s been married for years and it hasn’t happened yet. The society we live in would tell her to see a fertility specialist or to begin the adoption process. But my friend desires to be pregnant, and she’s waiting patiently for God to answer her prayful petitions for a baby. She’s waiting and she’s trusting that in God’s time she will become a mother.

And the waiting, the trusting, the praying day after day might sound crazy. But it’s not crazy. It’s faithfulness. It’s trust.

“Trust is just another word for faith.”

If we are truly faithful to God, it means that we trust Him for everything. Every small, tiny, minute, seemingly insignificant thing. Not just the big, large, gigantic, insurmountable things. Every thing.

After God changed Abram’s name to Abraham (which means “Father of Many”) and promised to give Abraham and his wife Sarah a son, the couple waited 25 years for God to fulfill that promise. 25 Years! The Bible tells us Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born!!

Have you ever waited years for anything (other than to get your driver’s license)? Sometimes we struggle to wait months, days or even minutes. But can you even begin to imagine waiting years, decades even, for something your heart deeply desires? Do you have the patience? The faith? The trust?

That kind of waiting isn’t for the faint of heart; it’s for the faith of heart. For those that put enduring faith in God for everything. For those that trust Him for every little thing.

Trusting for every little thing comes packaged together with the benefit of freedom. Freedom from fear, from doubt, from worry and insecurity. When we trust God completely and without reservation we leave no room in our lives for fear. When we eliminate the stronghold that doubt has on our lives we find freedom that allows us to take risks that only faith in God allows us to take. And when we take those risks, we don’t feel irresponsible, we don’t feel afraid, we feel brave. And wouldn’t you rather feel brave instead of fearful? Trust God for everything and you will find that you are both brave and free.

So what are the things you’re not trusting God with? Is there something you’re holding back from Him? Something you’re clutching so tightly in your hands that your knuckles are turning white? Whatever it is, however large and significant it may seem, God is bigger. And He wants you to give it to Him. He wants to be inside of the details of your life. He made you. He lovingly created the details of who you are, and He wants you to trust Him. But not 80% here and 99.9% there. 100% everywhere. All the time, with every little thing.

Update 2023: My friend, mentioned at the beginning of this post is now a mother… to three children, who were all conceived naturally. She received a promise from the Lord and she trusted in that promise and as He always does, He fulfills His promises. Your promises might look different, but He loves you and He is the ultimate promise keeper.

"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits."

Matthew 7:15-20 ESV
